FORTIFIED
Fortified wines are created by adding alcohol to halt the fermentation process and to preserve the sweetness and freshness of the grape. Examples include the delicious ports and sherries from Portugal and Spain. Others are the red and white vin doux naturels (naturally sweet wines) of southern France, for example, Muscat de Beaumes de Venise and Muscat de Saint-Jean de Minervois.
