Tropical Spinach Smoothie

Don’t let the seemingly disparate combination of spinach and banana discourage you from trying this delicious smoothie. This is my take on the Venus Verde smoothie served at one of my fave vegan restaurants, CAFE 118. Depending on the sweetness of the bananas, you may add some agave nectar to suit your taste.
Makes 2 large glasses
Ingredients
2 medium ripe bananas (firm, not mushy)
1/2 cup fresh spinach juice
1 cup unsweetened almond or soy milk
1/2 cup fresh or not from concentrate orange juice
8-10 fresh basil leaves, chiffonade (optional: the basil is not essential, but adds a refreshing herbaceous note)
Put all the ingredients into a blender. If you have a blender with settings, turn the knob to “smoothie” setting and blend until smooth.
